Trees used in art and architecture

Before we start, what do you think a tree’s favorite drink is?

Fruit punch? Ginger ale? Coke? Not sure? Discover the answer at the bottom of the blog!

Do you know how many different types of trees are on the planet? Over 60.  Trees have been here since the Devonian period, known as the “Age of Fishes.” This was between 350 and 420 million years ago. What a great time to be a pescatarian! There are 4 types of trees; Deciduous, Evergreen, Angiosperms, and Gymnosperms. The most common tree in the United States is the Red Maple tree however the Oak tree is the national tree because it is known for its strength, diversity, and beauty.

Besides a tree house, there are extraordinary pieces grown from trees. Several countries worldwide have built bridges, dwellings, and sculptures out of the material. For instance, in Almere, The Netherlands, trees are planted in the shape of a Cathedral. In Allouville-Bellefosse, France, the Chapel Oak (which looks like Hagrid’s house in Harry Potter) used a large tree to build its structure.

So, how would you incorporate a piece of wood into your next project?

Answer: Root Beer
